Ambiti
Corso
The J.Monnet course DEUS30 aims at developing a multi-departmental course on the role of the EU in relation to sustainability. In particular, it would be accessible to USiena students of a plurality of faculties and integrated into their current course of study.
The course aims at integrating in-depth knowledge of the EU policy framework in the perspective of the 2030 Agenda, thus understanding of the pivotal role that the EU plays both on the global and national scale, in terms of policy-making for sustainability. In order to do so, an analysis of the European Green Deal policy will be carried out in parallel with the study of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The ambition is to enhance students’ awareness about EU’s actions in the field of sustainable development, especially of those students of departments which would not normally come into contact with European Studies, as well as the general public.
Integrating the study of EU policy-making from the perspective of socio-economic and environmental sustainability is a fundamental step in the direction of promoting European Studies and the 2030 Agenda in HE institutions.
The course will be held in in presence, respecting the norms and guidelines provided by the University of Siena. The DEUS30 course will allow receiving 4 CFU credits to those USiena students that have followed at least 75% of classes and obtained a positive assessment at the final workshop, under the “Internship and Other Knowledge” category, provided the agreement by the Education Committee of the each concerned University Department.
Classrooms can host approximately 40 people at maximum. Registration will close automatically, once the maximum number of people is reached.Specific information will be given for each specific lesson, prior to the class.
As a means of conclusion, a final conference will be organized, in which a number of speakers from the fields of EU policies and sustainability would present their work and perspectives on sustainability in order to give the audience an insight into these issues that goes beyond just an academia debate.
